He was great philanthropist and a community leader. The parish church of Ettumanoor - 'Christ the King Church' is a standing testimony to his generosity.

C.L.Sebastian died on 2-7-1990 at the age of 75 and is buried at Ettumanoor. A family tomb was offered free to late C.L.Sebastian by the Christ Raj Church, Ettumanoor as a reward for his gift of land for the Church.

Mr. C.L. Joseph is a pioneer in the motor transporting business in the State of Travancore. He was a great businessman and industrialist with exceptional organizing skills. Under his leadership as the managing director of Ettumanoor Motor Services (P) Ltd.(E.M.S), the company grew into the largest motor transporting company in Travancore State. He was the founding Secretary General of All Kerala Private Bus owner's Federation. The government of Kerala recognized his abilities and nominated him as a member of the Kerala Government Industrial Relations Committee for Transport.
Achievements

· Secretary and Member of the Board of Directors and the of New Bharat Motors Ltd.
· Managing Director of E.M.S. (Ettumanoor Motors (P) LTD), which operated bus services in the districts of Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idikki.
· Turned E.M.S. into the biggest transport company in Travancore
· Founded the All Kerala Private Bus Owners' Association, which was the first fleet owner's association in State of Travancore
· He became the Secretary General when the Federation of Bus Owners' Associations was formed out of Associations from all the districts of Kerala
· He was the sole proprietor of RANI Motors with more than 20 busses operating services in Kottayam, Idikki and Ernakulam districts
· The government of Kerala recognized his abilities by nominating him as a member of the Kerala Government Industrial Relations committee for transports
· He started Travancore state's first fruit canning factory in 1945 named "Philo Industries" which won the best product Gold medal from Travancore Government. . M/S Carr and company, a British firm took the sole agency to distribute its products throughout India and Philo Industries was appointed as the sole supplier of canned food to the Indian Military
· He with his three other brothers started "The Standard Oil Mills" in Kottayam
· Started "The Standard Wood Industries". This was at a time before electricity was available. He developed a charcoal gas operated automobile engine to power the factory
